چکیده
Corn silk has long been thought of as a waste product; however, due to its numerous therapeutic attributes, it remarkably gained popularity in Asian and African countries. Therefore, this study aimed assess the bioactivity dried corn powder (Zea mays, G5417) terms physicochemical bio-functional characteristics. The protein (15.29 ± 1.23) ash (5.29 0.29) contents were found be high. high phenolic content (94.10 0.26 mg GAE/g) flavonoid (163.93 0.83 QE/100 g) are responsible for antioxidant activity. showed 45.40 0.92% FRSA, 75.25 0.59 TEAC mg/gdw ABTS, 86.77 0.88% FRAP. FT-IR spectroscopy revealed stretching, bending, vibrations abundantly present polysaccharides functional groups. Moreover, DSC thermograph exothermic reactions at on-set temperature (Tonset) = 21.9 °C end (Tendset) 102.80 °C, 252.02 296.80 denaturation peak (Tpeak) 277.48 whereas XRD (2θ 21.5°) confirmed amorphous nature powder. potential thermal stability, dry can scaled up an industrial level.

Health Benefits of Purple Corn (Zea mays L.) Phenolic Compounds
Purple corn (Zea mays L.), a grain with one of the deepest shades in the plant kingdom, has caught the attention of the food industry as it could serve as a source for alternatives to synthetic colorants. Also being rich in phenolic compounds with potential health-promoting properties, purple corn is becoming a rising star in the novel ingredients market. Although having been widely advertised ...
متن کاملPhenolic profiles of Andean purple corn (Zea mays L.)
Qualitative and quantitative high performance liquid chromatography with diode array detection (HPLC-DAD) was performed to characterize the presence of phenolic compounds in Andean purple corn. Phenolic compounds were analyzed by separating them in two main fractions: a water fraction (WF) and an ethyl acetate fraction (EAF). The WF rich in anthocyanins revealed the presence of cyanidin-3-gluco...
متن کاملUtilisation of corn (Zea mays) bran and corn fiber in the production of food components.
The milling of corn for the production of food constituents results in a number of low-value co-products. Two of the major co-products produced by this operation are corn bran and corn fiber, which currently have low commercial value. This review focuses on current and prospective research surrounding the utilization of corn fiber and corn bran in the production of potentially higher-value food...

With the exception of barley and rice, little is known about the existence of hemoglobins (Hbs) in cereals. This work reports the cloning and analysis of hb genes from maize (Zea mays ssp. mays) and teosinte (Zea mays ssp. parviglumis). Coding sequences of maize and teosinte hb genes (hbm and hbt, respectively) are highly similar to each other and are interrupted by three introns located at ide...
